This issue just keeps going around the block and coming up. Which I get with the new simmers that join and discover CC and find out the Exchange is not such an "awesomesauce" thing as they once thought.
I believe before that Magician was the last person, that I know of that advocated that more lengths should be taken by EA to not allow CC on uploads to the exchange. I'm sure there was more, he's just the last that comes to mind as there were numerous threads on the matter. (And yes, I gave my 2 cents back then too.)
But >>here<< we have another person who is disgruntled (and rightly so) by the corrupt CC on the exchange.
Joining in 2009 and the first post created is on the exchange a few years later. This is after the Doll Incident and the numerous other vocal threads to do something about the exchange. Research is key, especially when downloading from the exchange. There are tools now and very helpful threads that can help ensure that corrupt CC doesn't make it into our games, as long as we are responsible enough to know.
Could EA come up with better solutions? Sure of course they could, but it would be a massive undertaking, and while I love the Sims Franchise this IS EA were are talking about here.
The exchange would need 24/7 round the clock surveillance and that is just NOT going to help, because you would get other people moaning that their uploads aren't being approved in a timely manner.
So as always, two sides come up. One wanting the exchange to do a way with CC, provide approval, testing, scanning (but if corrupt CC is still CC, even by scanning it would it come up corrupt?) *Insert Delphy's programs into the exchange or do-it-yourself. And the other side saying that would be impossible it's Download at your own risk. No one else is responsible, no one else made you hit the download button, and no one else said to download without restriction.
My opinion on the exchange has never, and will never change on this matter. It's how I feel on the matter. And yes I feel bad for those that get corrupt CC, at the same time, I have also experienced Corrupt CC from the exchange in my game and had to take on the daunting task of getting rid of it. It sucks bananas, but it is what it is. You learn and know for next time. Exchange=bad bloody business.
