Iridescent Assign 5: The Beating of Heart

_I'm posting this here, because I was inspired to write a story for my entry.  Although, it's not for the faint of heart.  So, if gore makes you squeamish, turn around now.



Nixi always had the same nightmare.  A nightmare that showed her the darker side of her heart.  A side of her that chases men down alleyways to strike FEAR into their hearts as she pulls out endless supply of daggers that she uses to slash and tear at her victim's skin, blood oozing from open wounds and cut arteries. 

Two nameless men, always lay covered in cuts, bruises and dirt that she leaves on the ground, marinating in their own blood, as she moves on to her last victim.  He tells her he forgives her.  Tells her that he loves her.  But all she can hear is his beating heart and all she can see is clear blue eyes.  She strikes!

She gouges out his eyes and repeatedly starts to stab him, until he lays lifeless.  But still that heart, it BEATS.  She takes a dagger and plunges it straight through his heart.  The fog begins to turn crimson from the blood shed, and she stares ahead as she crouches next to her lover with a fresh dagger in her hand.  She spits on him and scoffs at his love.  And then. . . .


. . . .his heart beats again!
